When the California Rice Commission came to us and asked for a brochure to discuss the subject of water usage, we knew we had a complex project on our hands. The current economic situation notwithstanding, water is probably the most pressing issue facing our state. Water is a continual tug-o-war between agricultural, environmental and residential users. But the California Rice Industry has a compelling story to tell, as its crop is a major driver of our economy, its fields are a natural wetlands habitat for more than one hundred species of wildlife, and its products feed millions of people around the globe.
