It was snowing on my drive up to Chico, CA for a photo shoot at the Satava Art Glass Studio. Richard Satava, who has been creating glass art for over 30 years, generously allowed Jim Morris from the California Rice Commission (CRC) and me to take photos and video while he and his talented crew created a one of a kind glass vessel for the CRC 2009 Gift Box.

Olio Nuovo is just one of the many Extra Virgin Olive Oils produced by California Olive Ranch (COR), located in Oroville, CA. Olio Nuovo literally means "New Oil" because it is created from the makers first crush of olives. It is only offered once a year at the beginning of the crush, and chef's look forward to its release each year because of its burst of fresh olive flavor. This year COR decided to update the label so that the bottle's exterior would reflect the unique oil inside.
